It’s a well-known fact that when it comes to trends, the usual journey is catwalk > high street fashion > interiors. However, we’ve spotted that these fashion types have started to move on from just clothing and started to put their focus into homewares.

From Dolce & Gabbana to Diesel lets take a look at the different looks and trends being introduced by these fashion powerhouses into our homes.

The first one that springs to our mind, of course, is Henry Holland. We recently attended the launch party for the House of Holland x Habitat collection and we love how the gingham and bright florals have leaped straight off Henry’s runway show straight onto cushions, bedding and rugs.

Julien Macdonald launch at the Sanderson Hotel

When you think of fashion designers infiltrating the highstreet you think of names such as Matthew Williamson, Ben de Lisi and Julien Macdonald, all of whom are Designers at Debenhams. Last week we attended the launch of Julien’s new homeware collection, Star, and amongst the embellished cushions, mermaid throws and diamante frames were four mannequins, each showcasing a glamorous gown worn by one of Julien’s famous clientele. It’s these dresses worn by the likes of Kim K, Tay Tay and J-Lo where you can see the fashionable inspirations reflecting into the home. Click here to view the full Star by Julien Macdonald for Debenhams collection.

Even ready-to-wear fashion is jumping on the home decor band wagon. The first thing us interior type think about then they hear French Connection is the collaboration the brand did with high-street sofa retailer DFS, but did you know it also has its own collection of products – and they’re really quite nice.

Marble Redux is French Connection’s key trend of 2017. If you’ve got a penchant for minimalism, then this indulgent effect is the perfect trend to incorporate into your home.

FC BrassAt French Connection, brass is officially the new copper. According to them, adding metallic into the home is perfect for creating industrial accents and a welcome touch of warmth during spring. With touches of rich upholstery that will make white walls pop, the collection takes inspiration from India with rugs and cushions that have been crafted using vintage floral a patterns for a fresh yet neatly distressed feel.

Bare floorboards can be dressed up with a statement hand-woven decoration that adds intrigue to your home. The appeal lies in the bold motifs because while we love the minimalist trend, there’s nothing better than a house that oozes personality without compromising on functionality.

This goes for COS also – the collaboration with HAY is all about functionality and considered design, just like the clothes.

We’re off to Spain via the highstreet next with the latest collection from Zara Home. Linen bedding is *just* so big right now – but don’t get the iron out just yet. We’re all about the crushed look, for a relaxed and lazy home.

Zara has gone one step further and brought this look into other rooms. The linen-look complements the soft tan leather of this sofa perfectly and we just want to dive into the below image, glass of Prosecco in hand.

Earthy tones are an important part of this collection and it extends all around the home. It’s even extended into the bathroom – because who doesn’t need a bit of linen in the bathroom? It looks great next to the wooden elements, complementing the patterned ceramics.

However, off the back of Salone Del Mobile in Milan, we’ve been keeping a keen eye on everyone’s Instagram Stories – visiting it vicariously – and investigating what’s happening in the world of design. One of the big spots we loved was from Diesel…

Diesel Living is the homewares branch of the designer and we were pleasantly surprised with what we saw. The new collection is a nod to desert living meets 70s hotel and features plenty of pastel tones and neutral shades. Named Pretty Vacancy, the look was inspired by a road trip by Creative Director, Andrea Rosso from Phoenix to Palm Springs.

Pretty Vacancy 3For the fair in Milan, the team created a retro and iconic hotel space which was both immersive and engaging. The Assembly armchairs pictured above wouldn’t look out of place in a 70s hotel and there is definitely an air of vintage glamour. Pair these with metallic elements, such as the Decofutura table (right), and you’ve got the makings of a sleek and design-led home.

We’re going straight to the very, very high-end now with Dolce & Gabbana and appliance brand, Smeg. The ‘Sicily Is My Love‘ collection is the two brands’ second joint project and includes kettles, toasters, juicers, mixers, blenders and coffee machines.

Following the success of the fridge collaboration last year, it’s fantastic to see the brands bring some smaller-scale and more accessible elements available to bring into our homes.

D&G SmegLove them or loathe them, there’s no denying the intricate beauty and fantastic colours in the pieces.

Each model also boasts a selection of delicate floral designs inspired by the coasts and landscapes of southern Italy and Mount Etna, surrounded by ornamental friezes and decorative leaf motifs.

From simplistic style through to maximalist design, who says you can’t bring a touch of the catwalk into your home. Have you seen any more fashion brands making a stake into homewares? Let us know on Twitter or in the comments below!

Hope you’re feeling a little more fashion-forward,
